The Black Price of Kismesitude

I know, I know. I haven't updated in a while. I'm so sorry! I've been so busy, but now I'm on break from my courses so I should be able to post a couple things here and there. In the midst of a conversation with a friend, I ended up writing a quick fanfic. Yes, a fanfic. I'm still not sure if it's a joke or the product of my insane love for Andrew Hussie's "Homestuck". Anyway, here it is. I wrote this in ten minutes, so try not to die if there is one word that is grammatically incorrect. Very little editing was done.

SS climbed up to the top of the large ambiguous green apartment. The mood was soft--the mist of uncertainty was in the air, as cold as the touch of the pistol that cue ball fellow had entrusted him with.
He knew what he had to do. It was hard, for SS knew the consequences. There are two things you never do under any circumstance: eat the mind honey, or kill Snowman. Both have dire consequences, but the latter had far worse ones.

Evangelion 3.0 Footage Analysis

Hello readers! Wow, we've sure come a long way in about thirty posts, haven't we? OVER 1,000 HITS! I can't thank ya'll enough, it's good to know at least one eukaryote out there is reading my wonderful rants about movies, anime, life, etc.

On that note, sorry for my recent hiatus. Even though I don't regularly update, I've been especially busy lately with some stuff involved with that mysterious "Real Life" concept... hmm, wonder what this is. However, none of this really matters because our prayers have been answered! A blessing has been given unto Man! It iS A MoThEr fReAkInG mIrAcLe mAn, hOnK hOnK hOnK.

After literally years of waiting, GAINAX has finally released a clip of Evangelion 3.0. For those who don't know, I am a total geek for anything Neon Genesis Evangelion, so this is a big deal. At least, for me it is. Evangelion 3.0 is part of Anno's recreating of the series into four updated movies, collectively titled Rebuild of Evangelion. There's actually quite a story behind the origins of Rebuild of Evangelion after the series was literally about ten years old, so let's dive right into that first.

Death of Message Box

I decided to remove the Message Box (CBox) from the sidebar. I had simply gotten tired of seeing all of the spammed advertisements for others' blogs in there. However, CBox was resistant to my efforts. It tried to run away, to halt its undeniable fate. Oh, but when will it learn? There is no such thing as coincidence; there is only inevitability.

But alas, CBox came to meet its fate. How, you ask? Long story short, the remains of CBox are now flowing down some South American river, never to be seen again.

I appreciate those of you who left encouraging or positive comments, but about 90% of what was in that box was horribly written advertisements by blog walkers who had no real interest in my writing. Even though I have, what, two regular readers, I still don't like having all of that nonsense of to the side of my posts.

Also, if you are being so generous with your Internet time to read my posts, be sure to follow me with your Google Account so I can see who you are! Thanks!

More posts coming up, fresh from the Void Oven.

Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle

When you think of crossovers, you probably think of horribly done fanfiction. You probably think of fans making impossible, even nonsensical combinations of characters and storylines. More canonically, you might even think of the few TV or OVA specials of some shows or anime, respectively, that crossover or simply just cameo characters into a crossover. CLAMP, however, has managed to do something completed different with their amazing crossover anime, Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle.

It's actually difficult to call Tsusbasa: Reservoir Chronicle a crossover anime. Fans of Cardcaptors or Cardcaptor Sakura will notice that in the poster to the left, the two main characters of the story are indeed taken from one of CLAMP's previous anime series, one that I grew up with and is close to my childhood heart. However, you'll also notice that there are two other characters in the poster that are completely original. In a sense, they are actually all original. What CLAMP has done is they have taken some characters from previous anime series that have created, but removed all of the characters' backgrounds and histories within their original world. Now, they have a completely new life, history, and destiny. This makes Tsubasa a much cleaner and more natural-feeling crossover to the point that it simply doesn't even feel like one. Instead, Tsubasa feels like a completely original story, which it is, clearly geared toward fans of the CLAMP universe, yet is still open and new enough to attract hoards of new fans.

Epiphany

This is a transclusion of my only Note on Facebook; I just wrote it tonight after the fireworks.

Tonight I feel like I had an epiphany. Perhaps the fireworks inspired it. Simply due to how it's affected my outlook on life, though, I'm sharing it with you.

Gurren-hen

Firstly, I apologize for the sudden change in font; I had some random spacing issues that caused this font the change all over the place, and I ended up standardizing with this style. Anyway, I once explained the film I'm about to review with the following analogy: "Gurren-hen is to Gurren Lagann as Rebuild of Evangelion is to Neon Genesis Evangelion." It turns out I was a little bit wrong about that. You see, Gurren-hen in itself is defeated. Like Rebuild of Evangelion, Gurren-hen is meant to be an abridged retelling of a portion of the anime in a movie format. While Gurren-hen is this, it also isn't. It's kind of confusing, almost comparable to double-think or your basic contradiction.

In a much earlier post, I reviewed the first half of Gurren Lagann, a recent anime series about mechs, fighting spirit, and spirals. This blog post conveniently fits in between that and my review of the second half of the anime, because Gurren-hen, also known as Childhood's End, is an abridged version of the first half of the anime. However, that's almost too strong of a definition of Gurren-hen, because that's exactly what  most of the movie is: an abridged version, to a very, very, very high degree.

Lolkick Sims Log III - Toilets N' Gills

Where we last left off, Tabris Schiller changed Hexed's masculine, all-black bed into a mixture of pink, lime green, yellow, and aqua sheets. Hexed awoke in a shock, and jumped out of his bed in fright. Hexed grabbed a plate of waffles and ran to a chair in the now brightly lit computer room. But Hexed didn't care about the waffles. After he finished the last tasteless bite of his meal, Hexed just stared at the wall... motionless... lifeless.... Meanwhile, Tabris was getting a promotion from his boss and was totally in the clear for the prank he pulled.

And that left Door. Door, finishing work, hopped in with his carpool and began the ride home. However, as they cruising alone the forest-filled roads, a car suddenly stopped them from moving any further. As it turns out, the driver was some kind of medical agent. Door, a low scientist, was for some reason wanted in the medical field. Door was sure this was a mistake. He coaxed the man back into his car, who at this point was yelling in confusion. Door decided it would simply be best to flee the scene. His carpool and he quickly sped away toward the city.
