DoorToNothing vs. Blogger: Battle of the Backgrounds

So as you may have noticed, the snow and winter theme that previous covered my blog has disintegrated. Replacing it is... stars. Lots of them. Actually, it's more like a lot of lights in the sky, though I think they are all stars. Seems safe to assume such.

Anyway, I planned to make this awesome new theme--it combined a purple hue of the spiral Julia Fractal over dark and enigmatic space clouds that I quickly rendered. I spent an hour making the beautiful theme--it even had a GURREN LAGANN quote at the end of it next to a spiral. Then, I tried to upload it.

I was expected to suddenly see only pure, unfiltered beauty all over the page. Instead...

Pokemon: Generation V

I have a long, long history with Pokemon. I think the first gaming system I ever had was a Game Boy Color, and I distinctly remember playing through the Blue, Red, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and even Crystal Versions on that wonderful piece of machinery. I was so blessed as to also have a Nintendo 64, equipped with Pokemon Stadium, Pokemon Stadium 2, and Pokemon Snap. If I was any more of a Pokefan, you could just slap a red hat on my head and call me "Ash Ketchum."

Then, one day, GAMEFREAK decided, "Let's make Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire Versions." And oh, indeed they did. I remember purchasing both copies with my own saved up money on a trip to the local Target--I also remember eating chicken fingers while I was there, but that's besides the point. Pokemon Ruby was the love of my life for the next few years. I quickly became a Pokemon Master with my Blazeikin, Groudon, Rayquaza, and various other monsters. It was not long before I had graced the Elite Four and Champion with my victorious smile over one hundred times, and had completed the Pokedex.

The sky has been gray.

NintendoDSi

On April 5, 2009, Nintendo launched their latest invention in the United States: Nintendo DSi. Everyone had wondered what the new Nintendo DS would feature--another screen, the ability to install game data to the device, perhaps enhanced PictoChat? None of these were included, instead an extremely weak and low quality camera was installed and Internet capability. With the latter came the ability to download games from an online DSi store to play, such as classic rereleases and short new games/applications. Now on the subject of the Internet, this doesn't seem bad, right? Get to relive the adventures of the Oregon Trail or play an exclusive version of WarioWare, nice! Wrong. The Internet capabilities of the Nintendo DSi is horrible, and in this blog post, I am going to prove that it and the rest of the DSi are not an improvement over the Nintendo DS Lite, its predecssor.

Scandalous Wiki

Let me begin this blog post by saying welcome to Rants from Beyond the Door. The need for an outlet of my emotions has led me to the creation of this blog, mostly brought on by the drama that occurs at the wiki I contribute to, as well as my stressful school life. Alright, now let's get to the serious stuff, if this is at all what could be called "serious."

I've learned that I'm not perfect in any respect. I can be rude, I've lied, and I'm responsible for many other things that I'm not particularly proud of. But I think that I started seeing how unforgiving and judgmental people can be this summer. The wiki I work at, the Kingdom Hearts Wiki, had an IRC channel. Finally, as a channel operator, I announced my departure from that channel in July, no longer able to deal with the idiocy, incompetency, ignorance of rules, and the flood of young'ins there. So I left, and went to a new channel just weeks later. This channel was the IRC channel of our neighbor wiki, the Final Fantasy Wiki. Very few users who tormented and abused me on my former channel dual-channeled here, so I felt safe. I knew the general community here, and it was a much more mature one. I was able to unwind here, and didn't feel like I was babysitting users as I had been.
